National Youth Football Association (NYFA) Chairperson, Tiyenkhu Chavura, has assured that by Wednesday next week, all affiliated district associations will have received funds to facilitate the smooth running of the ongoing FCB Katswiri Under-20 League.

Chavura confirmed that the funds sourced from the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and league sponsors FCB are already available. He apologized for the delay in disbursement, attributing it to the extended discussions between NYFA and the sponsors regarding logistical arrangements.

“The funds are ready, and we are finalizing the last steps before releasing them. We sincerely apologize to all associations for the delay but by Wednesday, the money will be in their accounts,” said Chavura.

His statement comes after the Blantyre District Youth Football Association announced a suspension of the second round of the league due to financial challenges, citing the absence of operational support from the national body.

Chavura, however, urged district associations to maintain communication with the NYFA before making critical administrative decisions, warning that independent actions could disrupt the league’s overall coordination.

“We are one family under NYFA, and it’s important that all associations consult us before taking decisions that may affect the league’s integrity,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chavura revealed that NYFA will soon conduct capacity-building workshops for league administrators across the country. The training aims to strengthen governance and management within youth football structures in line with FAM’s broader vision to transform the game in Malawi.

The FCB Katswiri Under-20 League, which features 164 teams from 14 districts, is set to resume its second round next week following the anticipated release of funds.

Chavura’s assurance brings hope to many district associations that had paused their operations, raising expectations for a smoother continuation of Malawi’s premier youth football competition.

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is leveraging its relationships with other center-right parties, including the UK’s Conservative Party, as part of its strategy to rebuild and reposition for the 2030 elections.

MCP Deputy Director of International Affairs, Chalo Mvula, made the remarks at the start of the Conservative Party’s annual conference in Manchester.

According to Mvula, the party’s international partners have expressed pride in the MCP’s handling of the transition and the statesmanship demonstrated by former President Lazarus Chakwera in upholding democratic principles.

He emphasized that the four-day conference provides a key opportunity to “share notes” with the Conservatives, who are also navigating their own path to recovery after a significant electoral loss.

The MCP’s participation in the conference aims to draw lessons from global counterparts as it strategizes for its political future.

The Manchester event also features other notable figures, including former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

The conference is set to conclude on Wednesday with a keynote speech from Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch.

Mvula’s remarks underscore the importance of international collaboration and learning from parties that have successfully navigated political setbacks.

Through these engagements, the MCP hopes to strengthen its policy approaches, leadership strategies, and organizational structures ahead of future electoral contests.

The party’s efforts reflect a commitment to modernizing its political operations while maintaining democratic principles and building credibility on the global stage.
