Chiradzulu, 30 October 2024 – The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) young professionals have launched a voter registration awareness campaign in Chiradzulu district to encourage eligible citizens to register ahead of Malawi’s upcoming elections. The initiative began on the west side of the district, reaching out to residents in key areas such as Njuli, Mbulumbuzi, Walala, Namadzi, Chitera, Khonjeni, Nakatha, Mauwa, and Ngalawesa.

The campaign, led by DPP members Merciful Nyirenda, Robert Mukhori, and Rodrick Mbulaje, aims to educate community members on the importance of registering to vote. The team has focused on providing information about registration requirements, locations, and the critical role of civic participation in shaping Malawi’s future.

Speaking to locals, Merciful Nyirenda emphasized the need for every eligible Malawian to take advantage of this opportunity to make their voices heard. “Voting is not just a right but a responsibility,” she said. “Our objective is to ensure that every eligible citizen understands the registration process and its impact on their future and the country.”

The campaign includes door-to-door visits, public gatherings, and discussions in community spaces to address any questions residents may have about the process. With voter registration being a key step toward securing fair and representative elections, the young professionals hope to motivate a high turnout in the district.

Local community leaders have expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that such awareness efforts are essential in rural areas where access to information may be limited. With the support of local leaders and the enthusiasm of the DPP young professionals, the campaign aims to build momentum and increase voter engagement in Chiradzulu.

As the registration phase progresses, the DPP team is optimistic that their efforts will lead to an informed and active voter base ready to participate in Malawi’s democratic process.
