Businesswoman and philanthropist Dr. Triephornia Mpinganjira has announced a change in the unveiling process for the winners of her ‘Kuthandiza Omwe Alibe Kuthekera Kupita Patsogolo’ project.

Previously, the project unveiled winners every fortnight, but now the application window will be open for a month, starting from July 9, 2024, and 14 winners will be announced on August 28, 2024, with each receiving K1million.

Writing on her Facebook page,Mpinganjira says, the changes are aimed at  reducing logistical challenges and simplify the process.

Mpinganjira

“Unveiling winners every fortnight had become cumbersome. This resulted in thousands of excellent applications, which we could barely accommodate because we could only consider one winner out of all of them.”

“Furthermore, we have several programs in the offing, and having this one run until December would make it difficult for us to launch new programs.

“Because of these and several other logistical factors, we have decided to change the unveiling process,”says Mpinganjira.

She launched the project in April this year targeting eighteen young entrepreneurs.

So far, four winners have already benefited from the project.

The two have been the remaining regions without securing any sponsorship in Division  One Football Leagues.

Speaking during the league launch at Ntchisi Community ground, FAM President Fleetwood Haiya said it is the association’s  wish to take football to greater height.

He said: “We cannot talk about football if we can’t  start from grassroots and this is what we have been talking about in our strategic plan.”

Haiya pointed out that  competitive football  is vital in promoting the standards of the sport in the country.

“There are high chances that the competition will be stiff and where there is stiff competition, it is our belief that we will have quality players and this will translate into having quality national team.”

Central Region Football Association General Secretary, Antonio Manda said the sponsorship will help lay a good foundation in the football development in the region.

“We are very much excited  with the sponsorship as a region. We have been on the hunt for sponsorship for quite some time,” he said.

Manda added: “FAM has led the foundation. It is now upon us to search for sponsors. We should  be able to get sponsors with huge sums of money so that out teams should be able to enjoy the game of football.”

On his part, Northern Region Football Association General Secretary, Masiya Nyasulu applauded FAM for the sponsorship describing it as a bonus to them.

“We are so much excited to the extent that our teams have now something to smile about, ” he said.

He said NRFA will take up a challenge to hunt for more sponsors to help support the league saying FAM has alot of activities and as such it could not be taken as the league’s  sponsor for seasons to come.

The launch was attended by all the nine District Football Associations from Central Region, Northern Region football association members, district council officials and some parliamentarians from Ntchisi district among others.
