Bishop Kalonga, born on May 7, 1980, in Buzi Chimbwanda Village, Traditional Authority Malenga in Ntchisi, becomes the fourth bishop to lead the Anglican Diocese of Lake Malawi.

With qualifications in Higher Management, Bishop Kalonga has served the church as a Parish Priest and Vicar General, bringing both spiritual depth and administrative experience to his new role.

During a courtesy call at Sanjika Palace, Bishop William Mchombo, representing the Anglican Council of Malawi, praised President Chakwera’s unwavering support for religious institutions and his commitment to infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and women’s initiatives.

President Chakwera emphasized the importance of equipping Malawi’s youth with the right tools, skills, and opportunities to drive the nation forward.
