Malawians are praising President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and the Democratic Progressive Party, DPP, government for restoring economic stability, affordability, and fuel security that many say had collapsed under the previous administration.
Since President Mutharika returned to lead the country, citizens and business owners say the cost of basic goods has stabilized.
One of the citizens Mary Mauka said under President Mutharika’s DPP government, prices of maize flour, soap, and cooking oil are no longer jumping every week like before.
Above all, Malawians are commending the end of fuel queues. “We are no longer sleeping at filling stations. You drive in, refuel, and go. That is the DPP I know” said a minibus driver Chimangeni Maliro in Blantyre.
The steady fuel supply has also helped reduce transport costs and eased pressure on market prices.
In contrast, the MCP administration under Lazarus Chakwera is widely remembered for economic uncertainty, inflation, and long fuel queues across Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu that forced motorists to wait overnight.
Supporters say President Mutharika’s leadership has brought discipline in public spending and renewed support for the private sector, helping to stabilize the kwacha and put essential commodities within reach.
With President Mutharika at the helm, many Malawians say they feel more secure, less burdened, and optimistic about the future.
