Zuwa Energy expands access to affordable solar power with Kwacha 6 system

By Phillimon Backson

Zuwa Energy has  intensified it’s  efforts to make clean and reliable energy accessible to Malawian households through its affordable Kwacha 6 Solar Home System, a product designed to provide dependable lighting solutions for both urban and rural homes.

Zuwa Chief Operating Officer, Winston Mgwira, says the solar system has been introduced with flexible payment options to accommodate families that may struggle with high upfront costs for electricity alternatives.

According to Mgwira, customers can either purchase the system outright or access it through affordable monthly instalment plans extending up to 12 months.

He adds that the product was developed to meet the everyday energy needs of ordinary Malawian households.

“The Kwacha 6 is a reliable solar system that accommodates both urban and rural areas. It is designed to complement the whole house. For an ordinary two-bedroom house, the Kwacha 6 can light up the entire home with its unique six bulbs that come with it,” said Mgwira.

According to him, the initiative is expected to reduce dependence on candles and kerosene lamps, which remain common sources of lighting in many homes despite safety and health risks associated with them.

The system is part of the company’s broader mission to promote clean energy adoption across Malawi while ensuring customers receive installation guidance and after-sales support.
