Youth innovation and empowerment interventions have received a boost following plans to offer bursaries to at least 300 youths in Shire Valley.
The beneficiaries will study vocational skills in Blantyre under a new training initiative.
The project is being implemented by social media influencer Nthandamwezi Given Khumbanyiwa.
She is working in partnership with Kings and Angels Vocational Skills Centre.
The initiative is also being delivered in collaboration with the Open Road Global Bursary Programme.

“As a daughter of Shire Valley, I know how fellow youths in this region are struggling to attain economic independence,” said Khumbanyiwa.
“I felt the need to empower the youths with skills so that they can be able to sustain themselves,” she added.
According to Khumbanyiwa, the project will be implemented in phases.
She said beneficiaries will be trained in tailoring, plumbing, welding, bricklaying, graphic designing and video production among other trades.
Meanwhile, one of the youths in Nsanje, Marko Khomani, has lauded the project.
He said the initiative will help equip the youths with necessary skills.
Khomani added that the skills will enable young people to venture into various businesses.
