Standard Bank has donated K5 million to the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi (NMCM) as the country commemorates International Nurses Day. The donation aims to recognize the crucial role nurses and midwives play in safeguarding the lives of mothers and children.
Alipo Nyondo, Standard Bank’s Head of Products, said the donation cements the bank’s cordial relationship with NMCM and acknowledges the selfless dedication of nurses and midwives.
Nyondo highlighted that Standard Bank has introduced discounted loan facilities to registered nurses and midwives who are account holders with the bank.
“This is one way of motivating them for their tireless efforts in the service, despite the challenges they face,” Nyondo said.
The bank’s initiative demonstrates its commitment to supporting healthcare professionals and recognizing their importance in the healthcare system.
Judith Chirembo, NMCM CEO and Registrar, commended Standard Bank for supporting the health sector, which is key to attaining sustainable economic growth.
