In a special ceremony held at Bingu National Stadium, Malawi’s football sensation Tabitha Chawinga was awarded the Region 5 Athlete of the Year award. The award, presented by the Ministry of Sports and the Malawi National Council of Sports, recognizes Chawinga’s outstanding achievements in the sports industry.
Chawinga, who was not present during the initial award ceremony in Zimbabwe, expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the recognition.
She credited the award to her hard work and dedication to her sport, and hopes to inspire young girls to pursue their dreams.
The Minister of Sports, Uchizi Mkandawire, commended Chawinga’s achievement, describing it as a major milestone.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting sports development and encouraged private sector investment in the industry.
