Muslims around the globe have concluded the 1446 Hijri year, a lunar calendar consisting of 354 days.
This marks the beginning of a new year, 1447, and the start of the month of Muharram.
The Islamic Calendar is based on the lunar cycle, with 12 months that commence with the sighting of the new crescent moon.
Each month in the Islamic Calendar can have either 29 or 30 days, resulting in a year with 354 or 355 days.

The Hijri Calendar holds significant historical importance, dating back to the migration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Makkah to Madinah.
This pivotal event occurred 1,447 years ago, when the Prophet fled persecution and found refuge in Madinah, a city 450 kilometers away.
The new year, 1447, brings new opportunities for Muslims to reflect on their actions and strive for spiritual growth.
Muharram, one of the four sacred months in Islam, is a time for introspection and renewal.
Muslims worldwide will observe this month with increased devotion, prayer, and good deeds.
