A brazen theft was foiled at the Local Government Commission offices in Lilongwe’s Area 4 on July 18, 2025, when a suspicious staff member caught Kondwani Grey, 29, attempting to steal electrical items.
Grey, a recent ex-convict, had allegedly taken advantage of the lunch hour to sneak into the offices and pack several electronics into a bag.
The swift action of the staff member prevented the theft from being successful, and Grey was apprehended by other staff members as he tried to flee the scene.
This incident highlights the vigilance of the office staff in preventing crime.
He had just completed a five-year sentence for a similar offence at Maula Prison on July 14, 2025.
Originally he came from Chazuka Village, Traditional Authority Tengani in Nsanje District, Grey will face charges of theft in court soon.
