The legendary Malawian reggae group, Black Missionaries Band, has announced plans to launch their latest album, Kuimba 13, in South Africa this coming weekend. The group, popularly known as Ma Blacks, says this move is part of their mission to take Malawian reggae music to international audiences.

The event will feature a lineup of celebrated Malawian artists, including Anthony Makondetsa, Lulu and Dreimo, who will perform alongside the Black Missionaries. The shows are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, with performances expected to draw huge crowds of Malawians living in South Africa as well as reggae enthusiasts from neighboring countries.

The group recently hosted successful launch events in Blantyre and Lilongwe, where thousands of fans gathered to celebrate the release of Kuimba 13. Both events were marked by electrifying performances and overwhelming support from music lovers across the country.

According to the band’s leader, the South African launch is a response to the growing demand from fans in the diaspora who have long supported their music. He said the concerts will serve as a way of appreciating their international audience while showcasing Malawi’s rich reggae culture.

Kuimba 13 has been met with widespread praise, with fans commending the group for producing songs that carry deep social and spiritual messages. The album blends teachings about love, unity and resilience with lively reggae rhythms, making it both educational and entertaining.

Music critics have also described Kuimba 13 as one of the Black Missionaries’ finest works to date, noting its improved sound quality and lyrical depth. Many believe it reflects the band’s growth and commitment to addressing issues affecting society through music.

The group emphasized that the launch is not only about celebrating their success but also about promoting Malawian music on the global stage. They expressed hope that this international exposure will open more opportunities for local artists to collaborate and perform beyond Malawi.
