‘He Fought Bravely’: Mourners Gather for Funeral of Young Social Media Star Davie Khan

By Durell Namasani

A somber crowd gathered in Kachisi Village on Saturday to lay to rest Davie Khan, a 25-year-old social media content creator whose battle with bone cancer touched thousands of followers online.

Khan died on April 27 while receiving treatment abroad in India, where he had traveled seeking specialized care for the aggressive disease.

Despite his illness, Khan remained a student at DMI St. John the Baptist University, where he had been pursuing his degree. He was just one year away from graduation, with an expected completion date of May 2027.

Friends and family described Khan as a vibrant young man who used his social media platforms to document both his academic journey and his health struggles, inspiring many in the process.

“He never stopped creating, even when his body was tired,” a family friend said at the service.

Khan was laid to rest in Kachisi Village under Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka District. Mourners draped in black filled the burial grounds, many holding phones aloft — a quiet tribute to the digital storyteller who brought light to so many.

He leaves behind his family, university classmates, and a growing community of followers who continue to share his content in remembrance.
