Qoma opens constituency office to bring development closer to Chikwawa residents

Residents of Chikwawa Central Constituency have commended their Member of Parliament, George Qoma, for establishing a constituency office aimed at improving public access to leadership, addressing community concerns and strengthening oversight of development projects.

The initiative has been welcomed by residents who believe the office will make it easier for communities to communicate their concerns and monitor the implementation of development activities under the Reformed Constituency Development Fund (RCDF).

One of the residents, Esnart Bingasoni, expressed her appreciation during an interview with Luntha TV Online while visiting the office to provide updates on the progress of development projects in her community.

Bingasoni described the initiative as an important development for Chikwawa District, observing that it was the first time she had witnessed a Member of Parliament establish such an office to maintain direct contact with constituents.

She said the arrangement would improve communication between the people’s representative and communities while helping accelerate development initiatives across the constituency.

Qoma, who represents the constituency on a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ticket, said he established the office to eliminate the difficulties residents face when trying to access him, particularly those who would otherwise have to visit his private residence.

He explained that even when he is away, designated leaders remain available at the office to receive complaints, provide guidance and respond to residents’ concerns regarding development projects.

The legislator, however, urged constituents to use the facility responsibly, warning against spreading false accusations or engaging in personal attacks.

He stressed that the office was established to promote constructive engagement, accountability and effective delivery of development projects rather than create divisions among community members.
