Chikweza appointed NWRA CEO

The Board of the National Water Resources Authority (NWRA) has announced the appointment of Grant GM Chikweza as the organisation’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

According to the Board Chairperson, Titus Chilevu Mtegha, Chikweza brings more than 20 years of international leadership experience in water resources management, governance, institutional transformation, and strategic leadership.

He expresses Chikweza’s ability to steer the institution towards growth and improved service delivery.

“We congratulate and warmly welcome Grant Chikweza on his appointment as CEO. We wish him great success as he leads NWRA into a stronger and more impactful future,” he says.

Chikweza has worked across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, serving in leadership and technical roles for several international and development organisations, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the World Bank (WB), the United Nations(UN), Catholic Relief Services Malawi(CRSM), the International Medical Corps in Afghanistan(IMCA), Save the Children US, the Nonviolence Peace Force in South Sudan, and the Lilongwe City Assembly(LCA).

He holds a PhD, Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Bachelor of Science degree in Water Resources Management and Engineering.

NWRA is responsible for the regulation, management, and protection of Malawi’s water resources.
