FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ struggle to turn matches into victories continued on Saturday after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Blue Eagles at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, marking their third stalemate in five league games.
Blue Eagles looked set for a valuable win after Tonic Viyuyi put them ahead in the 39th minute, giving the hosts a narrow lead at the break.
The opening half belonged largely to Blue Eagles, who defended resolutely and capitalized on their chance to frustrate the defending champions.

However, Bullets emerged from the dressing room with renewed energy and purpose, showing a completely different approach in the second half.
Coach Gilbert Chirwa’s tactical adjustments paid off almost immediately as substitute Ephraim Kondowe made an impact after coming off the bench.
Kondowe found the back of the net in the 51st minute, restoring parity and ensuring Bullets avoided defeat.
Despite pressing for a winner, Bullets were unable to break down the Blue Eagles defence, forcing them to settle for another share of the spoils.
The result means Bullets have now drawn three of their opening five matches, having previously shared points with Civil Service United in a 2-2 encounter and Red Lions in a goalless draw.
Elsewhere, Red Lions continued their impressive return to top-flight football with a 2-1 victory over LUANAR Mitundu FC at Zomba Stadium.
Creck Sporting Club’s difficult start to the season also persisted as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Moyale Barracks, courtesy of an early goal from Lucky Mkandawire.
Ekhaya FC maintained their recent resurgence by claiming a second consecutive victory, thrashing Kamuzu Barracks 4-1 after also defeating Moyale Barracks last weekend.
Levison Mnyenyembe, Charles Mafaiti, James Lumbe and Sholigah Stambuli scored for Ekhaya, while Rashid Chiromo grabbed the consolation goal for Kamuzu Barracks.
