The Malawi Government has moved to quash widespread speculation surrounding alleged diplomatic appointments, describing reports circulating on social media as entirely false.
Minister of Information and Government Spokesperson, Shadric Namalomba, has stated that no individuals have been appointed to ambassadorial positions or related diplomatic posts as claimed in online reports.
His remarks come amid growing social media discussions suggesting that several Malawians had been selected to represent the country in foreign missions.

The reports, which have been widely shared across various platforms, included names of individuals allegedly earmarked for diplomatic assignments in different countries.
Some of those mentioned in the reports reportedly accepted the alleged appointments publicly and expressed gratitude to God and to President Arthur Peter Mutharika for considering them.
However, Namalomba insisted that the information being circulated does not reflect any official government decision.
“Government communicates through my office, not through social media pages. There is no truth in what is being reported,” he said.
The statement is expected to put to rest speculation that had gained momentum over the past few days regarding appointments to Malawi’s foreign missions.
According to the claims circulating online, some of the purported appointees were expected to be posted to countries including South Africa, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and the United States.
Government authorities have since urged the public to rely on official communication channels for information regarding state appointments.
The clarification comes at a time when social media continues to play an influential role in shaping public discourse, often spreading unverified information before official announcements are made.
For now, the government maintains that no ambassadorial appointments have been made and that any reports suggesting otherwise should be treated as misinformation.
