Winter Weekend Fusion organisers dismiss fears over Namadingo’s performance

By Rahim Abdul

Organisers of the Winter Weekend Fusion music festival have assured fans that musician Patience Namadingo will perform as scheduled on Sunday despite concerns over his recent trip to South Africa.

DJ Kenny Entertainment team leader Kenny Maluwa said Namadingo remains committed to the event and is expected back in Malawi before the weekend.

His remarks follow speculation that the artist’s humanitarian mission to assist Malawians affected by recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa could affect his appearance at the festival.

Maluwa said all preparations for the show are progressing as planned and there has been no change to Namadingo’s performance schedule.

He said the award winning singer will headline Sunday’s live band show, which forms part of the two-day Winter Weekend Fusion festival in Blantyre.

According to the organisers, the festival is designed to build momentum ahead of Malawi’s Independence Day celebrations on Monday, July 6.
Saturday’s programme, dubbed Winter and Blues, will feature performances by Zeze Kingston and Fada Moti.

The opening night will also see DJs Skippy and Mighty Virus entertaining music lovers.

Sunday’s main event will feature Namadingo performing alongside Sound Plus Band, with DJ Flame and DJ Skippy also expected to perform.

Organisers have encouraged fans to attend the festival, saying all featured artists are ready to deliver an exciting entertainment experience throughout the weekend.
