The postponement of the 29th edition of Miss Tourism International 2026 has delayed the departure of Malawi’s representative, Maureen Zimba, to China, the Miss Culture Malawi Organization has announced.
The organization, which operates under the Lush Africa Foundation, said in a statement that the Miss Tourism International Organization communicated the decision to postpone the global pageant. The announcement was made after the international programme had been scheduled to run from June 30 to July 15, 2026.
The development means Zimba, who is the reigning Miss Tourism Malawi, will not travel on the previously arranged date to represent the country at the international competition.

According to the statement, organisers of the international pageant have not yet announced the new dates for the competition or confirmed the host city.
The Miss Culture Malawi Organization said it is awaiting official communication from the international organisers before announcing a revised travel programme for the country’s representative.
Despite the delay, the organization said preparations to have Zimba represent Malawi on the global stage remain intact.
It expressed confidence that the beauty queen is fully prepared to carry the country’s tourism and cultural agenda whenever the competition is rescheduled.
The organization further reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Malawi’s tourism potential through international beauty and cultural platforms.
Officials also assured stakeholders and supporters that they will provide updates as soon as fresh information is received from the Miss Tourism International Organization.
The postponement comes as contestants and participating countries await a new timetable, with Malawi maintaining that it remains ready to take part once the event is officially rescheduled.
