A family member to the late mother to Hon. Ezekiel Ching’oma from Zambia, preached of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Alliance as a gate way to success in the 2030 elections.
Speaking during the funeral service of his mother which MCP President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera was in attendance in Lilongwe, said MCP alone can in no way win the 2030 elections hence advising President Chakwera to form an alliance with other political parties.
The family member urged the MCP to start building up electoral alliances now and not waiting for 2030 saying it is only the alliance which can make the party bounce back into government in 2030.
He warned President Chakwera and the MCP that failure to form electoral alliances with other parties, the MCP must forget about the 2030 elections as History is a good teacher, MCP has never won elections since 1994 in Malawi.
The family member reminded the MCP and President Chakwera that it was only on the 23rd June, 2020 when the party won the elections for the first time since 1994 and all this was made possible after the party climbed on the back of the UTM and Dr. Saulosi Chilima.
He said without climbing over the back of UTM, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera would not have been voted President of the country hence advising the party to take the lesson of the alliances to its drawing board.
The family member told the gathering that he and Dr. Lazarus Chakwera campaigned together to win the June, 2020 elections, and after winning, some of his greedy and trusted boys closed the state house gates for visitors like him, family members and others, to come and see him at the Kamuzu Palace saying that was the reason that for five years, he never stepped his feet at the Kamuzu Palace to see him from Zambia where he is running his businesses.
“If you saw me not coming to Kamuzu Palace to see you, that’s the reason, your trusted boys closed all the doors of state house for us as your family members,” he lamented.
He advised Dr. Lazarus Chakwera that as he is strategizing to stand for the 2030 elections, he should look for new people with new ideas and thinking capabilities to work with him and not the trusted ones who closed doors for family members and others, to see him at the state house.
The family member told the gathering that MCP is in the wilderness, saying this is not the place for dying, urging all patriotic MCP members and supporters not to be fooled by failed politicians in the party that MCP alone can win the 2030 elections saying it is only an alliance with other parties to bring them back into government and without this happening, the party must forget about the 2030 elections
