APM delivers again! Mutharika’s CDF vision on track as Dr Ben Malunga Phiri hands over  6 projects in Mzuzu north

By Jones Gadama

President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika’s promise to take development to every corner of Malawi is bearing fruit, with six major projects in Mzuzu City North Constituency officially handed over to contractors under the Constituency Development Fund.

The move has been hailed as proof that APM’s vision of “Unity and Freedom” is translating into real bridges, schools, and opportunities for ordinary Malawians.

The handover, led by the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Dr. Ben Malunga Phiri, has brought new hope to communities in Luwinga, Zolozolo West, Lupaso, and Nkhorongo.

Residents will soon see the construction of Mbizi Bridge in Luwinga, Mandingo Bridge in Zolozolo West, King Tchaka-Gombero Bridge in Zolozolo West, Khwawi Bridge in Lupaso, Kaliyope Bridge in Zolozolo West, and a new Nkhorongo School Block.

These are not just projects on paper. These are lifelines that will connect farmers to markets, children to schools, and patients to hospitals during the rainy season.

Dr. Ben Malunga Phiri has been commended for his hands-on leadership and commitment to ensuring CDF resources are used transparently and effectively.

As Minister, he has moved with speed to make sure that the funds released by President Mutharika’s government are turning into bricks, cement, and steel on the ground.

“This is Delivering APM’s Vision,” Dr. Phiri said during the handover, emphasizing that no constituency will be left behind under the current administration.

President Mutharika has consistently said that development must be felt in the villages, townships, and cities.

The CDF allocation to all 35 councils this August, including Mzuzu City Council, is a direct reflection of that commitment.

While other leaders talk, President Mutharika acts. While others make promises, his government is handing over projects.

Political observers say the Mzuzu City North handover shows what happens when there is strong political will at the top and competent execution at the ministerial level.

Dr. Ben Malunga Phiri’s work is being praised across the northern region as a model of how CDF should be implemented — with accountability, speed, and focus on the people.

For mothers in Zolozolo who have struggled to cross flooded rivers, for pupils in Nkhorongo who have been learning in crowded classrooms, and for business people in Luwinga who lose goods every rainy season, this is more than politics. This is President Mutharika and Dr. Ben Malunga Phiri delivering dignity.

Malawi is moving forward. Under APM’s leadership and with ministers like Dr. Ben Malunga Phiri driving the agenda at local government level, the CDF is truly on track and the people are the biggest winners.
