It is good news for millions of Malawians as President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika has officially unleashed the 2026/2027 Farm Input Subsidy Programme (FISP) worth a staggering K140 billion.
The landmark launch took place today at Kalira Primary School in Ntchisi, where the country’s tireless and transformational Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, Hon. Roza Mbilizi, stood in for the President to deliver the hope farmers have been waiting for.
A total of 1,221,862 beneficiaries will be reached this season, cementing President Mutharika’s legacy as the true champion of the Malawian farmer.
Minister Mbilizi, who continues to impress the nation with her decisive leadership and clean approach to agriculture management, announced bold reforms that will change FISP forever.
In a masterstroke move, the Mutharika administration has decided that farmer organizations will now be the main channel for identifying beneficiaries and distributing inputs.
This means no more ghost names, no more middlemen, no more political interference. Only real farmers will benefit.
Secondly, Government will integrate Mbeya fertilizer production with complementary sustainable land management practices, ensuring that Malawi not only harvests more this year, but protects its land for generations to come.
Sending a stern warning on behalf of President Mutharika, Hon. Mbilizi made it clear that the President will not tolerate any nonsense around FISP.
“His Excellency President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika has warned that the law will take its course against anyone who interferes with the management of this programme, regardless of status,” she said.
The message has sent shivers down the spines of would-be looters who have in the past turned FISP into a cash cow.
Malawians across the country are praising President Mutharika for keeping his promise on food security and thanking Hon. Roza Mbilizi for executing the President’s vision with professionalism, passion and integrity.
Indeed, under Mutharika and Mbilizi, Malawi will never go hungry again.
