A delegation of church leaders from the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) and the Malawi Council of Churches (MCC) paid a courtesy call to Vice President Jane Ansahat Capital Hill in Lilongwe, emphasizing the importance of faith in promoting peace and development.
The delegation, led by MCC Chairperson Rev. Billy Gama, was welcomed by the Vice President, who expressed her appreciation for the church’s efforts in promoting peace and unity in Malawi.

The church leaders are in Malawi for a General Meeting, with 26 member churches in attendance, including representatives from the CCAP and Anglican churches.
The meeting aims to promote peace and discuss ways in which church leaders can contribute to national development. Rev. Billy Gama emphasized that “a good Christian automatically becomes a good citizen,” highlighting the importance of faith in shaping responsible citizenship.
The Vice President commended the President, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, for his commitment to peace, citing his handling of the 2019/2020 protests as an example.
She emphasized the importance of young people in shaping the country’s future, saying “I believe in change, especially in the young people – they are future leaders.”
The church leaders also expressed their appreciation for the President’s efforts in promoting development and peace in Malawi.
The AACC General Secretary, Rev. Fidon Mwambeki, focused on the theme of “life, peace, and dignity,” emphasizing the need for male champions to promote gender equality and empower women.
He also highlighted the importance of addressing the root causes of conflicts, such as tribalism and power consolidation.
