A strong economy is the backbone of a strong nation. And under the visionary leadership of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, Malawi’s economy is finding its feet again. Driving that recovery is Hon. Joseph Mwanamvekha, Minister of Finance.
When President Mutharika came to save Malawi, he made it clear: no more borrowing to eat, no more corruption, and public money must work for the people. He chose Mwanamvekha to turn that vision into budgets that deliver.
Under Minister Mwanamvekha, government is prioritizing fiscal discipline.
He has cut waste, plugged leakages, and ensured that resources go to agriculture, education, health and infrastructure. This is APM’s philosophy: spend wisely, grow the economy, and protect the poor.

The Minister has also championed private sector growth. Through tax reforms and business-friendly policies, small and medium businesses are breathing again.
President Mutharika’s empathetic and loving leadership believes that when businesses thrive, jobs are created and families are fed.
In agriculture, Mwanamvekha has ensured that farm inputs are funded on time. He understands APM’s directive that Malawi must feed itself first.
Farmers now have access to support because the Ministry of Finance is working and delivering.
Mwanamvekha has also strengthened transparency in public finance. Every kwacha is now accounted for.
Donors and development partners have renewed confidence in Malawi because they see a patriotic President and a competent Minister managing the economy with integrity.
Because of this teamwork, inflation is stabilizing, forex is improving, and development projects are moving.
Roads are being built, clinics are being equipped, and social support programs are reaching vulnerable families.
This is leadership in action. A visionary, kind and patriotic President giving direction, and a disciplined Minister executing it.
With Professor Mutharika at the helm and Joseph Mwanamvekha managing the economy, Malawi is on the path to prosperity. The recovery is real, and the future is bright.
