Police in Mwanza have arrested a 26-year-old prophet Stonard Ali of Ilambo Pentecost Church, for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl since December last year, in the name of exorcism.
According to Mwanza Police Public Relations Officer Hope Kasakula, the mother of the girl asked the prophet to pray for the girl when she got ill, and the prophet later asked for continued prayers for an effective healing.
“The prophet advised the mother to leave so that he may heal the daughter alone without any disturbance. Undoubtedly, the mother left and that’s when the prophet took advantage and followed his libidinous feelings and deceived the girl,”says Kasakula.
However, the victim revealed to have been abused when the mother opted to visit the prophet again as she was complaining of having some illness.
Kasakula says the prophet shall be charged with an offence of having sexual intercourse with a child.
He comes from Benjamin Village Traditional Authority (T/A) Kanduku in the district.
