This publication has uncovered a calculated ploy by desperate UTM leader Dalitso Kabambe to manufacture relevance by hijacking funerals and church fundraising events attended by government ministers, only to take secret pictures and spin false narratives of association with the government.
According to multiple sources, Kabambe has embarked on a nationwide visitation campaign where his media team is instructed to trail cabinet ministers.
The moment he learns a minister is in attendance, Kabambe rushes to the venue, forces his way into seating arrangements, and directs his team to take pictures without the knowledge of the ministers, later using them to create the impression that he is working with the government.
The most recent case was at a funeral in Dowa where Minister of Energy Dr. Jean Mathanga was in attendance.
A close source reveals that Kabambe deliberately asked to be seated close to the minister.
When the village chief recognized Dr. Mathanga and thanked her for her presence, Kabambe, through his personal assistant, instructed the MC to also recognize him, in a desperate attempt to force a narrative that he was part of government business. Kabambe also further instructed his team to rush and give some money to adzukulu so that he gets a resounding welcome and honour at the grave site!
“It is our plan and this is just the beginning, our agenda is to profile Kabambe as someone being endorsed and this can only be achieved through taking pictures of him seated and standing close to Cabinet Ministers and then spread propaganda that the Ministers are positioning themselves for 2030 ” said the source who is privy to the whole mission.
From February this year, his media caller boys have been seizing every opportunity where Kabambe is with Cabinet Ministers, taking pictures and feeding their propaganda machine.
Mwanamvekha was also targeted when he attended a function in Blantyre, Ben Phiri too was targeted when he attended a certain funeral where Kabambe was also in attendance. The latest to be targeted is Dr. Jean Mathanga.
Dr. Jean Mathanga, who is the Minister of Energy, attended the event in her official capacity to patronize prayers for the mother of Rosebery Mkandawire at Kagwa.
Mkandawire is the Chief Executive Officer of Power Market Limited. Dr. Mathanga was present as Minister of Energy because Power Market Limited falls under the Ministry of Energy.
It was there that Dalitso Kabambe, in his desperate quest for recognition, positioned himself and took pictures with Dr. Jean Mathanga in an attempt to deceive the nation into believing he is relevant to government business.
This publication has further established that Kabambe and his team have now resorted to using AI-generated pictures to manufacture the association they so badly want.
But Malawians are not fools. They have seen through the desperation.
This publication also spoke to a legal expert who stated that Kabambe’s tactic of deliberately taking pictures with ministers to mislead the public and create false impressions of endorsement amounts to misrepresentation and could expose him to legal action.
The expert advised that such conduct must stop.
Political observers say the scheme exposes a leader who has been rejected by his own people in Thyolo and is now terrified of his own UTM executive, who are reportedly unhappy with his leadership.
Sources close to UTM say Kabambe has vowed to do “everything possible” to create false associations because he has nothing tangible to offer Malawians.
The ploy comes at a time when Malawians are daily praising President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and his cabinet for mature, God-guided leadership that has eased the price of maize, Malawi’s staple food, and restored abundance of fuel at pumps, a development from which even Kabambe himself is a beneficiary.
Political commentator Mathews Namukhoyo has faulted Kabambe’s conduct, describing it as “childish and immature politics” unbefitting of a national leader.
“A serious leader does not chase cameras at funerals. He presents policies. What Kabambe is doing is an insult to the intelligence of Malawians,” Namukhoyo said.
In contrast, President Mutharika’s administration continues to be guided by service and humility.
Ministers are attending community functions not for pictures but to deliver development, comfort the bereaved, and support the church, in line with a government that puts God and the people first.
The hard truth is that Kabambe’s funeral and church circus has been exposed.
Malawians are not fooled. While UTM scrambles for photo opportunities, President Mutharika and his cabinet are busy delivering food, fuel, and hope to the nation.
