The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has introduced a performance-based incentive of K2 million for each Scorchers player for every group-stage victory at the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with increased bonuses for qualifying for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final.
The announcement was made on Monday by FAM President Fleetwood Haiya as the Scorchers departed for their maiden appearance at the continental tournament in Morocco.

Haiya expressed gratitude to President Arthur Peter Mutharika, the government, and various stakeholders for their support of the national women’s team.
He thanked Mutharika for his leadership and commitment to the development of sports, particularly women’s football, and also acknowledged the First Lady for her encouragement and support.
He further commended the Ministers of Sports, Finance, Natural Resources, and Agriculture, the Secretary to the President and Cabinet(OPC), Justin Saidi, the Malawi National Council of Sports(MNCS), the National Bank of Malawi (NBM), FAM partners, affiliates, the football fraternity, supporters, and Malawians for standing behind the team.
Haiya called on the nation to continue praying for the Scorchers throughout the tournament.
He said the team has undergone comprehensive preparations, including an international training camp and friendly matches, to fine-tune its readiness ahead of its opening Group B match against Nigeria on 28 July.
The FAM president urged the Scorchers to represent Malawi with pride, discipline, courage, and humility, saying the team carries the hopes of more than 22 million Malawians and has the opportunity to inspire future generations through its historic participation in the continental tournament.
