An accountable governance advocator, Dr. James Kadyampakeni, has been quoted in the media as having called on the DPP led government to issue a directive to the Financial Intelligence Authority(FIA) to trace the source of Mr. Austin Mkoka’s legal funding.
A day after Speaker of Parliament Sameer Gafar Suleman announced formation of 11 parliamentary joint committees to look into critical issues affecting service delivery in some public institutions, an individual, Austin Mkoka went to the court to obtain an injunction stopping Suleman from continuing with his planned objectives.
Among the institutions to be probed include Blantyre Water Board, NOCMA, ESCOM, Immigration, as well as fertilizer distributions to the beneficiaries through coupons.
A day after Mkoka went to the court, the DPP issued its statement clarifying to the nation that it is in no way connected with Mr. Andrew Mkoka’s court injunction claiming that Mkoka went to the court on his own as a concerned citizen.
Dr. Kadyampakeni has challenged the DPP led government that if it did not fund Mkoka, then who did this for Malawians to believe in them for taking no hand in the Mkoka filing of a court injunction.
A concerned citizen of Malawi Mrs. Elizabeth Kaliza Banda of Area 51 in Lilongwe, has accused Mr. Austin Mkoka and those supporting him of destroying the good image of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika who will be retiring from active politics in 2030.
Kaliza Banda said she is suspecting some senior individuals in DPP to have funded Andrew Mkoka to file a court injunction restraining Speaker of Parliament Sameer Suleman from doing a good job which all Malawians are rallying behind him.
She said some DPP senior members and ministers have accumulated unexplained wealth turning themselves into billionaires over a night and they don’t want investigations as this will put them to shame and labelled thieves of the DPP government.
The citizen said Sameer Suleman made it clear that for every decision he makes, he consult President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for his inputs speaking for itself that the clever ministers did it by themselves without the knowledge of Professor Mutharika that they are funding someone to tie Suleman’s hands.
Kaliza Banda has reminded Malawians that on the day Professor Mutharika was Sworn in as President of Malawi, he vowed to tackle issues corruption seriously making a declaration that the honeymoon is over.
“Let the DPP minus Professor Mutharika tell the nation the truth about Mkoka’s court injunction, and if the party is disassociating itself from the move, it should force Mkoka to go back to court to vacate the injunction,” said Kaliza.
She has assured the DPP that many DPP family members and supporters have lost trust with the party and they don’t see any future of them in the party and as such, the DPP can go back to the drawing board to correct where it is going wrong to win back the trust of Malawians.
Kaliza Banda has appealed to President Professor Mutharika that this is the best to reshuffle his cabinet so that he can handle issues of the sale of Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre and Suleman for Malawians not to lose hope with the DPP.
Meanwhile, the High Court of Malawi has granted an injunction to Mr. Andrew Mkoka stopping Speaker of Parliament Sameer Gafar Suleman from establishing committees to investigate issues which have been a major concern to Malawians in various public institutions.
