The Malawi Government has reaffirmed its commitment to constructing stadiums for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers, assuring football supporters that the projects remain on its development agenda.
The assurance was made in Parliament by Minister of Natural Resources Patricia Wiskes, who responded to questions on behalf of the Minister of Youth and Sports.
Wiskes said the DPP-led administration remains determined to complete the construction of the two stadiums as part of efforts to improve sports infrastructure in the country.
She told lawmakers that the government recognizes the importance of modern stadiums in promoting football development and providing suitable venues for local clubs.
The minister also addressed concerns over the future of Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, which was demolished after being declared unfit for use.
According to Wiskes, the government is currently engaging potential investors to help finance the reconstruction of the national facility.
She said the reconstruction of Kamuzu Stadium remains a priority because of its significance to football and other sporting activities in the Southern Region.
The government believes that partnerships with investors will help speed up the redevelopment process and ensure the stadium meets the required standards.
The update is expected to bring renewed hope to football fans, especially supporters of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers, who have long awaited progress on the proposed stadium projects.
Once completed, the new club stadiums and the reconstructed Kamuzu Stadium are expected to boost football development, improve match-day facilities, and enhance the country’s ability to host major sporting events.
