JG2 Gaming Lounge has officially opened its doors in the country, with management expressing confidence that the facility will help promote esports, digital skills, and modern entertainment among young people.
The gaming and entertainment centre was officially launched on July 25, 2026, providing gamers with access to modern gaming equipment and a dedicated space for competitions and social interaction.
Speaking in an interview with 247 Malawi News, JG2 Gaming Lounge Gaming and Electronics Sales and Marketing Officer Moses Aaron Makunganya said the facility has been established in response to the growing interest in gaming in Malawi and the limited availability of modern gaming centres.
“We saw a growing gaming community in Malawi with limited access to modern gaming facilities. Our goal was to create a professional space where gamers can compete, socialise, and develop their skills while making gaming more accessible,” said Makunganya.
He said the lounge offers high-performance gaming PCs, PlayStation consoles, esports competitions, tournaments, private gaming sessions, gaming accessories, and technical support for gaming equipment.
Makunganya said the facility has adopted affordable pricing aimed at attracting students, young people, and gaming enthusiasts, adding that customers can visit the lounge or its social media platforms for the latest prices and promotions.
According to Makunganya, JG2 Gaming Lounge targets a wide range of customers, including students, young professionals, esports players, families, and anyone looking for quality entertainment in a safe and welcoming environment.
Looking ahead, he said the company plans to expand its gaming services, organise larger esports tournaments, establish partnerships with schools and organisations, introduce gaming training programmes, and position itself as one of Malawi’s leading gaming destinations.
Makunganya also said Malawi’s gaming industry has significant growth potential as more young people continue to embrace gaming and esports.
“With investment, partnerships, and community support, the industry can create jobs, develop digital skills, and enable Malawi to compete in regional and international esports competitions,” he said.
He further called on the government, particularly the Ministry of Sports, to recognise esports as an emerging sport and support initiatives that promote youth participation, digital innovation, and talent development.
“Such support will create more opportunities for young Malawians while strengthening the country’s digital economy,” he said.
Makunganya then thanked customers and partners for supporting JG2 Gaming Lounge since its launch and invited members of the public to experience the facility.
“This is only the beginning, and we look forward to building something special for gamers across Malawi,” he said.
