As Malawians continue to grapple with fuel shortages, foreign exchange scarcity, unreliable electricity, limited access to clean water and shortages of essential medicines, opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) spokesperson Jessie Kabwila has challenged President Arthur Peter Mutharika to address the nation and explain how his administration intends to tackle the problems.

Kabwila: Mutharika should address Malawians
Kabwila says in a statement that the president has yet to provide convincing solutions to the challenges facing Malawians under his leadership.
She highlights concerns over fuel and foreign exchange availability, electricity supply, access to clean water and the availability of medicines in public hospitals.
Kabwila also questions the implementation of agricultural input programmes, saying farmers need clear and reliable policies to support their activities.
She challenges Mutharika to publicly explain the measures his government is taking to improve the availability of fuel and foreign exchange, restore reliable electricity and ensure that public hospitals have adequate medicines.
Says Kabwila:“If this country has not defeated you, come out from where you are and speak to Malawians.”
She further calls for greater clarity in government’s agricultural policies, particularly programmes aimed at supporting farmers.
Her remarks come amid continued concerns over fuel availability, foreign exchange shortages and other economic pressures affecting households and businesses across Malawi.
