Kalindo backs business owners on newly introduced EIS

By Vincent Gunde

Political activist Bon Kalindo has backed business people in Malawi for their rejections to be collecting tax from people through the newly introduced Malawi Revenue Authority’s ( MRA) Electronic Invoicing System ( EIS).

Kalindo has accused some activists who have changed direction that they are now speaking siding with the MRA for shop owners to start using EIS machines.

He said Malawi has activists who say this today and tomorrow changes their speeches out of the influence of money saying he for one speaks nothing but the truth that this newly introduced EIS will kill businesses in Malawi.

Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said no country can develop without business people warning government that if the issue of EIS is left unchecked, the fall of the DPP in the 2030 elections will start from there.

He said the pain and sufferings Malawians are sailing through punitive taxes are the same with they had suffered during the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) rule, they were being advised to do better but they did not take heed of the advices, today they are out of government.

The Activist said politicians in Malawi see good things of what government can do to make its people happy when they are outside government but when they enter government, they do the very same things that have made their friends to lose government.

He said even the media personnel are not doing enough to stand with the people against the punitive taxes in Malawi claiming that they are all captured, there eyes are on allowances.

” The government which has no welfare of its citizens at heart, is a stupid government, that government does not stay,” said Kalindo.

He said people that are backing government on the newly introduced EIS are not business people saying if these business people go out of the country to do their businesses, they will come to know the importance of business.

Kalindo said Business people have the right to be holding demonstrations in line with democratic values of the country, advising the DPP to tell their boys not to be above the law saying MCP has learnt a lesson from its panga wielding thugs.

He has thanked government for accepting that there’s sabotage at ESCOM claiming that some people are deliberately switching off electricity for it to fall down advising it that there are some areas which are still in blackout for four months now after ESCOM officials removed transformers, some customers have not been supplied with electricity after paying ESCOM two to four years ago, describing this as another sabotage.
