Musicians across Malawi have received training in positive mindset development, financial management and business practices through an initiative organized by the Musician Association of Malawi (MAM).
The training aimed at equipping artists with skills that go beyond music production, helping them manage their careers more effectively and build sustainable livelihoods from their talent.
Speaking during the training, Musician Association of Malawi President, Vitta Chirwa, encouraged artists to view their musical abilities as a long-term source of economic empowerment and personal development.
Chirwa emphasized that success in the music industry requires not only talent but also discipline, proper financial planning and a positive mindset capable of overcoming challenges.
The workshop also focused on promoting mental wellness among musicians, highlighting the importance of maintaining a healthy outlook while navigating the demands of the entertainment industry.
As part of the program, a musician from Balaka was recognized for producing the best song on the theme of positive mindset, standing out among entries submitted by artists from different parts of the country.
Organizers said the recognition was intended to encourage musicians to use their creative platforms to promote messages that inspire personal growth and social development.
The training was conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Malawi College of Accountancy, which provided expertise on financial literacy and practical life-management skills.
Participants were taken through various topics including budgeting, saving, investment planning and responsible use of income generated through their artistic work.
Stakeholders believe the initiative will help strengthen Malawi’s creative industry by producing artists who are not only talented performers but also financially responsible entrepreneurs capable of contributing to national development.
