Paramount Chief M’mbelwa V has called on President Lazarus Chakwera to ensure the Malawi Congress Party’s manifesto reaches all corners of the country as Malawi prepares for the September 16th General Elections.
The traditional leader made these remarks on Tuesday at M’mbelwa Stadium in Mzimba during the launch of the MCP’s northern region campaign, where he welcomed the President to the area. Chief M’mbelwa described the event as an opportunity for the President to showcase his administration’s achievements and outline future plans.

“We appreciate the visible development projects implemented by your government, including this stadium. As northern region traditional leaders, we feel honored to host this campaign launch in Mzimba,” said the paramount chief.
The leader also used the platform to advise political parties against violence during the campaign period, emphasizing that rallies should focus on policy issues rather than personal attacks.
“I know our northern communities value peace. I encourage them to maintain the political tolerance they’ve demonstrated in the past, ensuring continued unity across the nation,” M’mbelwa added.
The campaign launch marks the ruling party’s official start of election activities in the northern region, with President Chakwera expected to outline his party’s vision for another term in office.
