Social media is awash with a video of Democratic Progressive party (DPP) rally believed to have taken place in Chikwawa.

In the video, someone is heard saying that once they take over power, the party will strive to deal with the Chewa people from Central region.

In the clip the speaker is being heard saying they will take all the companies moved from Blantyre to Lilongwe back to Blantyre.

But Speaking in Dowa at Kanyenje Primary School Malawi Congress Party Vice President Harry Mlekanjara Mkandawire denounced the statement saying it was bad.

Mkandawire said there was a need for DPP to condemn the statement in strong terms.

“By not condemning the statement it means that it is the position of the party of dealing with the Chewa people, ” he said.

MCP Secretary General Elsenhower Mduwa Mkaka said people should learn to say the truth, that relocation of the Government companies from Blantyre started by Bingu wa Mutharika.

Mkaka said it is sad that DPP is misleading people so that people should believe that MCP does not like the Southern region.

Mkaka has since called for Unity in MCP and not to replicate what is happening in DPP.

He urged party members to continue observing four corner stones which include Loyalty, unity, discipline and honest.
