Mtambo Calls For Malawi Economic and Industrial Revolution

Minister for National Unity Timothy Mtambo has said for Malawi to develop there is a need for a sustained economic and industrial revolution.Mtambo was speaking as Guest of Honour on Sat evening 3Dec at Capital Hotel where Product Magazine was presenting 2022 awards to the best Malawian producers and exporters to international markets

In his speech ,the Minister said that the major economic problem Malawi is currently facing is the negative trade balance where Malawi exports less than what gets imported. He said that most economic challenges in Malawi emanate from forex shortage. He further said this challenge could be minimised if Malawians could stop importing what can be locally produced in order to reduce unnecessary forex flight.

However, he also said local producers that add value to their products and exporting to global markets are the key drivers to the recently launched National Export Strategy by President Chakwera which speaks more to the Mw2063.

Mtambo congratulated the participants to this trade competition and the Product Magazine for putting Malawian products, producers and exporters on the global map. Product Magazine in partnership with Ministry of Trade and Industry documents and publishes locally produced, value added and exported Malawian products. Various local producers and exporters participated in the 2022 competition in producing and exporting to global markets.

The event was also aimed at launching the newly released Product Magazine edition for 2022.
