The event was however not without controversy as part of the audience seemed to be angry with the judges’ final decision and chanted songs against them.

Speaking earlier at the event, Minister of Tourism and Culture Michael Usi said his office will work with the office of Miss Malawi to promote Tourism and Culture in the country.

In her remarks, First Lady Monica Chakwera who was also the guest of honour urged the winner to work with her Shaping Our Future Foundation to help in empowering young girls and boys in fulfilling their dreams.

She then commended Alpha Arts for organizing the event and for choosing a good theme which was focusing on early childhood development.

Alpha Arts resuscitated the Miss Malawi beauty pageant after a four year break and it’s Managing Director Francis Kaphuka says he is impressed with how the competition went and promised that the contest will be back again next year.
