Leader of Opposition in Parliament, George Chaponda, has called for the resignation of the Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet,Colleen Zamba, as well as the Ministers of Transport and Public Works, Jacob Hara, and Tourism, Vera Kamtukule, over revelations of dubious oil deals involving the SPC and the Ministry of Transport, and the alleged sale of part of Likoma Island to some investors.

Chaponda

According to Chaponda, the money involved in the planned fuel deal, intended to defraud the government, is substantial and could have been used to improve service delivery in the health sector and settle pensioners’ dues, who have been waiting for their retirement benefits for years.

He has called on President Lazarus Chakwera to act swiftly on these two issues and show seriousness by firing the three should they fail to resign

Additionally, Chaponda has urged Malawians to rise up and demand accountability from their leaders at all times.
