The body of the late Isaac Mavuto Ng’oma, a younger brother to Homeland Security Minister, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma has been laid to rest in the afternoon of Tuesday, 16th April 2024 at HHI cemetery in Blantyre.
Deliverimg the condolence message from President Lazarus Chakwera to the bereaved family, MCP’ Deputy Publicity Secretary, Kondi Msungama described Mavuto Ng’oma as someone who was instrumental in strengthening the grassroots of Malawi Congress Party and that his death has left a gap.

“The President is deeply saddened with the demise of Mavuto Ng’oma, and the MCP family has lost a patriotic and dedicated member” mourned Msungama.
Delivering the message on behalf of the bereaved family, Vinijole Manda thanked President Chakwera for the support rendered to the family at the time of Ng’oma’s illness and his death.
Malawi leader condoled the family with K1 million.
Born on 21st September 1965, Isaac Mavuto Ng’oma died on Monday 15th April 2024 at Mwayiwathu Hospital in Blantyre after succumbing to cancer.

The Forum for National Development (FND) has written a letter to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) on its deep concerns regarding the financing and actions surrounding the Salima-Lilongwe Water Project (SLWP).
The FND has alleged that over K150 billion (US $89 million) has been invested in the project since its inception in 2018, yet there is little to show for such a substantial investment beyond mere mentions of equipment mobilization and project commencement.

The organization has urged the two international bodies to give its communication the attention it deserves and actively engage with it on behalf of the Malawian people to ensure transparency and accountability in the project for Malawians to understand how their taxes are being utilized for such critical initiatives.
In a letter dated 12th April, 2024 signed by its National Coordinator Fryson Chodzi, the FND says in the 2018/2019 financial year, the Government of Malawi disbursed US$18 million (K31 billion) to the contractor Khato Civils as mobilization for the project.
In the 2020/2021 financial year, an additional US$12 million (K20 billion) was paid to the contractor as part of the same mobilization efforts and in 2023 the Malawi Parliament authorized the borrowing of K105 billion (US$ 61 million) from National Bank and New Building Society Banks on behalf of the contractor to initiate the project works.
The FND says the passage of the bill in Parliament raised suspicions as it was alleged that some Members of Parliament (MPs) were taken to Salima where they were influenced or bribed to ensure that the bill found its way without difficulties.
“Instead of 7 days for a bill to be deliberated, it only took 4 hours from the first reading to its conclusion,” reads the letter in part.
The organization says after the authorization bill of K105 billion was passed in Parliament, reports came out alleging that the K105 billion was not meant for the intended project but rather it was part of the scheme to further exploit the Malawi Government.
It says despite the provision of funds for the project, the contractor has yet to commence any work and is now requesting an additional K70 billion (US$40 million) for devaluation adjustments before initiating the project.
The FND says it pursued legal action against the Malawi Government in a case under Commercial Cause Number 75 of 2023 lamenting that while waiting the court’s decision, the Attorney General initiated an appeal process in the Supreme Court which ruled that the case should transition from the Commercial Division to the Civil Division of the High Court.
The organization says it was disheartened to discover that the Malawi Government proceeded with payments to the contractor prior to a court ruling making them to believe that there are grave governance issues surrounding this project that demand immediate attention.
It has assured Malawians that they are prepared to engage with the World Bank and IMF if necessary to address these concerns and promises to pursue legal action if the concerns are not adequately addressed although they are mindful of potential challenges with judicial impartiality in matters related to the Salima-Lilongwe Water Project (SLWP).
The organization has finally implored the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to launch a thorough investigation into the utilization of public funds by both the contractor-Khato Civils and the Government of Malawi in the Salima-Lilongwe Water Project (SLWP).
In recent weeks, a storm has been brewing at the Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO) in Malawi, as a politically charged audit report has aimed to tarnish the image of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
But what lies beneath the surface of this seemingly damning report, and what ulterior motives may be at play?
This investigative journalist who interviewed an inside source at EGENCO, established that manipulation and deceit have unfolded in the wake of this audit report.
It is no secret that the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has been on a mission to divert attention from their own misdeeds by concocting allegations against the DPP and its members.

The audit report, which has been used as a tool to incriminate the DPP, is nothing more than a facade to cover up the deep-rooted corruption within the MCP ranks.
It is a well-planned move to shift the spotlight away from their own embezzlement of funds through nepotistic contracts and underhanded dealings.
One prime example of this deception is the case of Shadreck Namalomba, a senior member of the opposition DPP and it’s spokesperson .
The audit report fails to acknowledge the full scope of his foreign trip, which was approved by a board comprised of various high-ranking officials including the Secretary to the President and Cabinet, the Secretary to the Energy, and the Head of Statutory Corporation.
The trip was not an extravagant excursion at the expense of the company, as the audit report would have one believe.
It solely covered the necessary expenses for air tickets to and from South Africa, as well as travel within the country.
The truth of the matter is that Namalomba’s trip was fully sanctioned and not an act of misconduct or misuse of funds.
Furthermore, the auditors were coerced into implicating the DPP in this alleged scandal, despite the lack of concrete evidence to support such claims.
It is a clear ploy to tarnish the reputation of the opposition party and divert attention from the real perpetrators of corruption within EGENCO.
Had the audit been conducted by an independent and unbiased firm, the true extent of the MCP’s looting and deceit at EGENCO would have come to light.
The premature termination of contracts, such as in the case of Liabunya, raises questions about the motives behind these actions and the ulterior agenda of the MCP.
It is time for the people of Malawi to see through the smoke and mirrors of this politically compromised audit report.
The truth of the matter is that the real thieves are those hiding behind a mask of false allegations and deceitful tactics.
The trust in EGENCO has been eroded by the malicious intentions of the MCP, and it is up to the citizens to uncover the truth and hold those responsible for their actions.
National Development Party(NDP) has appointed Wakuda Kamanga as its vice president responsible for Operations,the party’s Secretary General Gerald Chilongo has confirmed.
Kamanga’s appointment comes hours after joining the party from Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) where he has been suspended today for allegedly sharing the party’s sensitive information to other political parties.
Chilongo says NDP has also appointed Judith Mang’anda who has joined the party together with Kamanga as its Director of Protocol and Events.

Kamanga is a well known politician who has been in many political parties in the country including Malawi Congress Party (MCP) , Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), AFORD, People’s Party (PP) among others.
NDP was formally registered as a political party on 1st March 2024 and is led by Frank Mwenefumbo.
