Ndirande Police Station is informing the general public that unidentified male pedestrian who was involved in a serious road accident on May 28,2022 at Chirimba railway crossing is still in coma and receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.
The victim is believed to be 35 to 40 years and during the time of accident, he was wearing a red T-shirt and blue jeans.
On this fateful day, he was hit by a motor vehicle which was being driven from the direction of Magalasi heading towards Machinjiri roundabout along Old Chileka road as he was trying to cross from left to right of the road. Due to the impact, he sustained servere head injuries and an open tibia fracture on right leg .
Police therefore, appeal to those who might have any knowledge of any missing person bearing the above description to report to the nearest police formation or Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for identification.
The official celebration for the Queen’s Birthday Party and Platinum Jubilee took place in Malawi took place on Wednesday evening. Malawi’s foreign affairs Minister Nancy Tembo and British High Commissioner David Beer led the celebrations

In her speech Malawi’s Foreign Affairs Minister Nancy Tembo said The UK has been a reliable partner to Malawi for the long-term assistance and partnership in the areas of good governance, health, education and economic empowerment, amongst others.
“In order to accelerate poverty alleviation and promote sustainable development, the Malawi Government is committed to strengthen measures which ensure that resources whether generated locally or received from our partners are used for their intended purpose. Malawi’s Speaker of Parliament Honourable Catherine Gotani Hara, MP has been elected Executive Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) African Region.
According to the statement from the Parliament press team,The Speaker was elected on Monday, 6th June 2022 on the sidelines of the 52nd Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association – African Region being held from the 3rd to 9th June in Sierra Leone’s capital city, Freetown.
The African Region of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association comprises of the 63 national and subnational legislatures.
The CPA Africa Region is governed by a Coordinating Committee and Executive Committee which is made up of representatives from across the region. There is also a Regional Representatives Committee which reports to the Executive Committee.
The Mission for CPA Africa is to “To promote and protect the interests and perspectives of CPA Africa Regional Parliaments and countries, into the Commonwealth and beyond, and to promote gender equality, emancipation of women, and respect for human rights, freedoms, democracy and good governance.”

The new Secretary to the Office of President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba has announced a suspension of all civil Servants meetings outside their duty stations.
She said this is in addition to the austerity measures on government spending announced by president Lazarus Chakwera recently.
She announced this in Lilongwe during her first meeting with Principal Secretaries of various ministries.

“No government institution or parastatal is permitted to conduct meetings in Mponela, Mangochi or Salima,” Zamba said.
She said the directive is an economical measure meant to save government resources which will be redirected to critical needs.

Minister of Energy, Ibrahim Matola, has called on Malawians to be patriotic and avoid vandalizing transformers and other ESCOM machinery.
Addressing the media in Lilongwe on Wednesday under the Government Faces the Press platform, Matola said vandalism is costly and affects the economy of the country.
He added that the country is still recovering from the 129 megawatts lost due to Cyclones that hit Malawi a few months ago.
