Maranatha Academy has treated over 400 students to a unique reward – subsidized flights home on Malawi Airlines after completing their rigorous Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations. In a special deal, the secondary school covered 50% of the airfare for each student, while parents paid the remaining half.
According to Ernest Kaonga, Managing Director of Maranatha Academy, this initiative aims to reward students’ hard work and motivate them to excel academically.
Kaonga emphasized that this gesture also serves to build national pride by giving students a chance to see Malawi from the air. “We want our students to feel valued and motivated,” he said.

By partnering with Malawi Airlines, Maranatha Academy is supporting local business and promoting domestic tourism.
This move aligns with the Malawi Government’s “Best Buy Malawian” policy and the national tourism motto, “Tidziyamba ndife aMalawi kukonda dziko lathu” (Let’s start with us, Malawians, loving our country).
Maranatha Academy is known for its commitment to academic excellence and has been recognized as one of the top secondary schools in Malawi.
The institution has four campuses across the country and has a university entry success rate of 90%.
This latest initiative demonstrates the school’s dedication to fostering academic excellence and creating memorable experiences for its students.
By rewarding students with this unique experience, Maranatha Academy hopes to inspire future generations to work hard and strive for greatness. As Kaonga stated, “We support the government in providing quality education services” and “motivation is key” to achieving exceptional results in national examinations.
This gesture is just one example of how Maranatha Academy is setting a benchmark for educational institutions in Malawi.
