Malawi has found a rare leader in Honourable Chimwemwe Madzabuka Chipungu.
As Minister of Lands, he is already being called the most people-centered lands minister the country has ever had. His reason is simple: a deep fear of God and a heart to serve Malawians first.
Despite running one of the busiest ministries in government, Chipungu never misses church.

Every Saturday he is on his knees in prayer, seeking God’s direction for the nation. “My work in government is worship,” a close aide quotes him saying. “If God is not in it, I don’t want it.”
That spirit has followed him to Capital Hill, where he pushes for land to benefit ordinary Malawians and Malawians alone.
Staff say his office door is always open and his decisions are guided by fairness.
But Chipungu is not only praying in the pew. In the Seventh Day Adventist Church he is lovingly called “Pastor Chipungu.”
He regularly stands on the pulpit to preach, and when he does, the cabinet minister disappears.
Immersed in the Spirit, his sermons carry power. At Michiru SDA, Chirimba SDA, and several Lilongwe churches, members testify: “When Pastor Chipungu speaks, it’s like God is speaking directly to us.”
That same anointing is seen in government. Serving under His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, Chipungu works with diligence to deliver the President’s vision of development and integrity. Many credit President Mutharika for being led by the Holy Spirit in appointing ministers like Chipungu.
“The DPP is blessed to have a man who fears God and loves his people,” one party elder said.
Beyond ministry, Chipungu is heavily supporting his constituency through sports, youth programs, and community projects.
In an era where people demand servant leadership, Malawi is watching a man whose public service is rooted in prayer. And the results are speaking for themselves.
