TNM Super League: Silver stumble, Bullets drop 2 points

Silver Striker’s challenge for the TNM Super League title stumbled as they started the league’s second round with a 1-3 loss to Mafco FC at Silver Stadium on Saturday.

Mafco opened the score sheet from the spot just 13 minutes in the first half through Peter Katsonga before Auspicious Kadzongolo increased their lead seven minutes later.

Patrick Macheso pulled one back for the central bankers in the 31st minute, after connecting a Mike Robert free kick but Mafco came back with another goal courtesy of substitute Mphatso Philimon.

In Blantyre, Nyasa Big Bullets came from behind to draw 1-all against Kamuzu Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium.

Gregory Nachipo scored for KB in the 21st minute but Bullets equalised through Lanjesi Nkhoma who scored from a rebound in the 64th minute after KB’s goalkeeper Lemani Nthala cleared a Henery Kabitchi’s free kick.

In another match played on Saturday, Moyale Barracks thumped Mighty Tigers 3-1 in a match that took place at Mzuzu Stadium.

Maneno Nyoni were on target for the Mzuzu based soldiers while Alfred Sapanga scored Tigers’ consolation.

On Sunday, Karonga United will play Blue Eagles at Karonga Stadium as Rumphi United hosts Ekwendeni Hammers at Rumphi Stadium.

In Lilongwe, Civil Service United will play Red Lions at Civo Stadium as Sable Farming host Dedza Dynamos at Mulanje Park Stadium.

Kasungu-based side TN Stars will play Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Kasungu Stadium.

Nyasa Big Bullets remain top on the log table with 42 points from 16 games followed by Blue Eagles who are perched on second position with 30 points from 15 games.

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are on third position with 28 points followed by KB and Silver Strikers who are stuck on position 4 and 5 with 27 and 26 points respectively.
