Two people have died after being hit by a speeding motor vehicle while crossing the road on Monday at Sumaili Village along the Bakili Muluzi Highway in Mangochi.
The deceased have been identified as Sharif Duwa, 10, and Kifa Charles, 9.
According to Mangochi Police Spokesperson, Amina Tepani Daudi, Shafi Kassim, 28, was driving a Toyota Sienta registration number MH 111C from the direction of Chiponde towards Mangochi Boma.
Daudi says upon arrival at Sumaili Village, due to excessive speeding, he lost control of the vehicle and hit the two young boys who were crossing the road from the right to the left side.
Both deceased hailed from Salimu Village, Traditional Authority Jalasi in Mangochi.
