Opposition presidential candidate Mundubile has rejected the official outcome of Zambia’s presidential election, disputing the declaration that handed President Hakainde Hichilema another term in office.
Mundubile said he would challenge the results through the courts, arguing that the electoral process was marred by issues that warrant judicial scrutiny.
His decision sets the stage for a legal contest over the election outcome, with the opposition expected to present its objections and supporting evidence before the relevant courts.
The electoral authorities have maintained the validity of the announced results, while Hichilema has moved to acknowledge the outcome and pledged to govern the country.

Mundubile’s legal challenge could now become the next major test for Zambia’s electoral and judicial institutions as the country moves into the post-election period.
The dispute comes after a closely watched presidential contest in which Hichilema faced a strong challenge from opposition candidates, including Mundubile.
