Zambia Police have arrested social media content creator Gezile Smith Mwale following allegations that she produced and distributed explicit adult content that was widely circulated on social media. Authorities say investigations into the matter are continuing.
Police said the 23-year-old influencer was detained in Lusaka after investigators linked her to the alleged production and circulation of obscene material.
According to the police, the case involves suspected offences under Zambia’s cyber and criminal laws relating to the creation and distribution of explicit content. Investigators are also examining whether other individuals were involved.
The arrest follows the circulation of videos allegedly involving Mwale, which sparked widespread debate on social media across Zambia and neighbouring countries.
Police have warned members of the public against sharing or redistributing the alleged explicit material, saying doing so could amount to a criminal offence under the country’s laws.

The development has generated mixed reactions online, with some people welcoming the police action while others have called for respect for privacy and due process as investigations continue.
Authorities have not yet disclosed whether Mwale has formally appeared before court, but indicated that more information will be released as the investigation progress.
