Two workers at a Kombucha drink production company located at Njewa Industrial site in Lilongwe have drowned in a septic tank while attempting to clear a blockage.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at around 13:00 hours
The deceased have been identified as Feedson Thunga, 23, and Jamison Lewis, whose full particulars are yet to be established.

It is reported that both men were employed as general workers at the company. On the day of the incident, Thunga was assigned to unblock a septic tank.
During the operation, he reportedly became trapped inside the tank and drowned.
Upon noticing that his colleague was in distress, Lewis jumped into the septic tank in an attempt to rescue him. Unfortunately, he also became overwhelmed and was unable to come out.
Fellow workers later managed to retrieve the two men from the septic tank, though it was too late, as both were already lifeless.
Following the report, detectives from Lilongwe Police Station visited the scene and initiated investigations.
The bodies were subsequently taken to Kamuzu Central Hospital mortuary, where postmortem examinations are expected to be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
