In a significant display of unity and commitment to peaceful elections, stakeholders in Ntchisi District have agreed to work together to promote peace and tolerance ahead of the September 16 General Elections.
The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) District Chairperson, James Chibade, emphasized the party’s stance against violence during a solidarity walk organized by the National Initiative for Civic Education and Ntchisi Police.

Chibade assured that the party would not support any acts of violence and warned that anyone found causing trouble would be reported to the police.
This commitment to peace was echoed by David Namathimba from Ntchisi Prison, who revealed plans to collaborate with the Malawi Police Service and the Malawi Electoral Commission to ensure that those who attempt to disrupt the peace face the law.
Religious leaders in the district have also played a crucial role in promoting peace and tolerance.
They have encouraged the public to maintain peace, avoid hate speech, and show love and respect during the election period. This collective effort aims to ensure that the elections are conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner.
The Malawi Electoral Commission has been working tirelessly to promote democratic leadership through voting.
The commission’s chairperson, Honourable Justice Annabel Mtalimanja, highlighted the importance of active participation by all eligible voters in shaping the country’s future.
With the theme “Promoting Democratic Leadership Through Your Vote,” the commission has launched a comprehensive voter education campaign to inform and motivate the electorate.
As the elections approach, stakeholders in Ntchisi District are optimistic about maintaining peace and promoting democratic values.
