Ngwira Explains Player Departures as Dedza Dynamos Restructure Squad

By Rahim Abdul

Head coach of Goshen City Dedza Dynamos FC, Alex Ngwira, has clarified that the club’s recent decision to release several players was made in agreement with his technical panel as part of a broader strategy to strengthen the squad.

Ngwira disclosed that he communicated his recommendations to the club’s executive immediately after the Castel Challenge Cup final against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Bingu National Stadium. The decisions, he said, were informed by a thorough assessment of players’ performance levels and conduct during the previous season.

“We made these decisions to create room for new additions who can improve the overall quality of the squad, especially considering our performance in both league and cup competitions last season,” Ngwira explained.

The coach emphasized that attention has now shifted to recruitment, expressing confidence that the executive will act swiftly to secure the targeted players ahead of the new campaign.

“With the new season set to kick off on April 18, 2026, through the Charity Shield, it is crucial that we bring in the players we have identified as soon as possible,” he said.

Ngwira further stressed the importance of early preparations, noting that integrating new signings into the team setup will be key to achieving better results in the upcoming season.

“We need to regroup with the new players and build cohesion. I trust that the executive is taking the necessary steps to support the technical team,” he added.

Meanwhile, the team is scheduled to regroup on Monday, March 23, 2026, marking the beginning of preparations for the new season.

The coach revealed that the break was intentional, allowing players adequate time to recover after a demanding campaign that extended into February.

“We had a long and competitive season, so it was important to give the players time to rest before returning to training,” Ngwira said.

As the squad reconvenes, the club is also expected to unveil new signings, signaling the start of a new chapter as Dedza Dynamos aim to improve their performance.
