A man has been found hanging in the Chinamwali area of Zomba.
Reports indicate that he is believed to be one of the citizens who recently returned from South Africa.
A large crowd has gathered at the scene, which is near a house in the area.
Some residents who know the deceased say the man is the son of a local chief in the city.
By the time reporters arrived at the location, police and medical personnel had not yet reached the scene.
Zomba Police Publicist, Andrew Mwale, said he has received a report on the incident.
Mwale confirmed that officers were on their way to the location to begin investigations.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification of family.
Police said they will provide further details once officers complete their assessment at the scene.
